About Andres
My Story
I was never interested in traditional career paths. I was always fascinated to discover what else was out there. As a former basketball player, I was drawn to the world of athletes and wanted to work in the industry. But conventional roles like sports agent or wealth manager didn't fit what I wanted to do.
So I spent nearly 10 years bringing strategic clarity to innovation projects at Accenture and a market intelligence startup. But in 2024, I decided to come back to my original question: how could I work with athletes? This time, I decided to explore all the possibilities more carefully.
Through this exploration, a few stories truly inspired me. One example is Ferran Prieto, who helps athletes start businesses based on their authentic interests. I was fortunate to speak with him for advice, and the combination of learning from his story while gaining concrete insights was the ideal kickstart for Athlete Founders.
Building on my intuition toward Athlete Founders, I interviewed elite athletes about the key barriers preventing them from becoming an Athlete Founder. The outcome revealed three main issues: lack of visible role models, lack of confidence, and perceived lack of skills and knowledge.
To tackle these issues, I went back to the roots of what helped me the most: the right stories that inspire. This was the first step in starting to collect many, many Athlete Founders stories and to gain insights from these which is the essential and to make these easily accessible towards elite athletes.
Now I'm eager to test these collections of stories & insights with elite athletes that have the ambition of becoming an Athlete Founders. This is where Athlete Founders begins.
